They scored four Number 1s, would ditch the 7 when Paul left in 2002, and they had their final hit with Say Goodbye/Love Ain't Gonna Wait For You in summer 2003. S Club Party was the second of 11 consecutive Top 10 hits for the band. If you're going to lose out on the Number 1 slot, you want to do it to a worthy winner, and the S Clubbers certainly did – Blue (Da Ba Dee) went on to sell over a million copies! Only one more hit was on the way for Eiffel 65 they took Move Your Body to Number 3 in early 2000.įor S Club 7, of course, it was just the beginning. When the final whistle was blown that week, Eiffel 65 were way ahead, outselling Jo, Hannah, Bradley, Jon, Rachel, Paul and Tina by two to one. Sadly, although everybody wanted to see Bradley swing and Rachel do her thing, S Club 7 couldn't break the spell cast over the UK by Eiffel 65 – Blue (Da Ba Dee) was still selling strongly. I Feel Like A Woman! and pop princess Britney Spears was set to release the third single from her debut album – the Pop Gem (You Drive Me) Crazy. Apart from the current chart-topper, it had to beat that week's other big releases. The infectious track, which has one of the best middle-eights in pop ever, had some pretty serious competition, however. S Club 7 already had one Number 1 on their belt, thanks to debut single Bring It All Back, so the chances of follow-up S Club Party achieving the same looked pretty high.
